OVW Results (September 1, 2007)


THE INSURGENCY VS. THE MAJOR BROTHERS

The Majors were back to take on the Insurgency this week, after losing to them last week due to some brass-knuckles knocking one of the brothers down while the ref's back was turned! An early pin-attempt that was due to a combination move form the Majors was stopped by Ali giving one of the brothers a boot to the back. That allowed Ali to tag in, but he soon found himself at the mercy of the Majors as Omar did before him.

Unfortunately for the Majors, Team America was at ringside and Ramon of Los Locos tried to trip one of the Majors up at the ropes. That led to a backdrop over the ropes for the Majors in order to bring Team America down to the floor and a neckbreaker on Ali looked to set things right up for the win … except Roucka got up on the apron in order to force the ref to spend time trying to get her to leave. As with last week, some brass-knuckles made their way into the ring for the Insurgency, but this time they were caught red-handed and one STO/Russian Legsweep combo later it was all over for the Insurgency and the Majors had gotten the win!
That brought out Team America to the ring, but the Majors took them all on, one by one or even two by two, until they were the only ones left in the ring!

As the Majors left, the Next Generation Hart Foundation came into the ring with Nattie taking the microphone in order to announce that they had unfinished business with The James Boys over the OVW Southern Tag-Team Titles! That brought out the James Boys, but before Kasey James could really get himself heard over the chants from the OVW crowd, Jamin Olivencia & T. J. Dalton came out to say that they were entitled to have that match for the titles! No sooner than Jamin finish when Terminal Velocity came out to stake a claim on getting the titles as well!

Kasey, seeing that everyone else there had something to gain, while The James Boys had everything to lose, wanted to know what the others would risk for the chance to win the Titles. Chet the Jett jumped in to say that he would put his hair on the line for the shot, and with wicked grins on their faces, the James Boys agreed to have the Hair vs. Titles match later that night on OVW Television!

NIC NEMETH VS. VLADIMIR KOZLOV

Nemeth is known as a strong contender in any OVW match and quickly showed those statements to be true as he solidly connected his boot to Vladimir's chin with a superkick early on! Unfortunately a hard clothesline from Vladimir sent Nemeth to the mat and in pain. A whip to a corner just saw limbs flying as Nemeth hit the turnbuckles and Nic looked to be in very serious trouble. Nemeth got in some punches to the gut and jaw to give him a little breather, but a whip to the ropes was reversed by Vladimir and Kozlov finished Nemeth off with a headbutt to the chest that sent Nic flying like the hardest of clotheslines would! With that, Vladimir got the 1-2-3 and the win!

Michael W. Kruel entered the ring with Team America and took the microphone in order to address his unhappiness with how “my two Iraqi got SCREWED by the Major Sisters!” Claiming Vladimir's “destruction” of Nemeth was to make a statement, and continue to try to “raise OVW and all you hicks to a higher level of life!”

That brought out Cody Rhodes, who wanted to let Kruel know that the true stance of the OVW audience was that they wished Kruel would “Shut the HELL UP!” Calling Kruel “the Great American Sham,” Cody demanded a match! Kruel was angry enough to agree to the match … but immediately snuck in that “it's not a title match! It's not a title match!!”

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH:
MICHAEL W. KRUEL (Champ) VS. CODY RHODES
REF: Ray Ramsey

A lock-up saw a break and another found Kruel in a headlock and quickly dropped to the canvas with a shoulderblock from Cody! A surprised Kruel jumped back in for a little back-and-forth with Cody, but soon found himself trying to maneuver out of a series of headlocks and tosses from Rhodes. A break that allowed Kruel to whip Cody to the ropes merely allowed Cody to dropkick Kruel in the face and capture a two-count on the “great American hero.”

Kruel finally got in a move by guillotining Cody on the top-ropes and taking down the choking Rhodes for a near-pin. With Cody still trying to catch his breath, Kruel stomped and elbowed Cody a number of times along with a neckbreaker to keep him off-balance. Eventually, Kruel locked in a sleeper and Cody looked to be gone as Ramsey lifted his arms up once, twice, but not a third time!

Cody slammed Kruel's head into a turnbuckle, only to get a stiff clothesline when running at Kruel a second later! A pin-attempt had Kruel hitting a belly-to-belly on Cody and looked to be ready for the Kruel Intentions – just as Cody rallied and hit a massive DDT on Kruel to send the “great America dud” into la-la-land and Cody got the pin for the win!

Of course, any win against a member of Team America is a loss for ALL of Team America, and the others ran into the ring to express their anger by stomping and kicking Cody!

In the locker-room, Ox and Hammer discussed their problems, but obviously were not seeing eye-to-eye. Ox finally just walked out, but not before telling Hammer, “I am so sick of this G.I. Joe bull-crap!” As Ox went off down the hall, an ill-tempered and hurting Michael W. Kruel ran into a new man on OVW Television and told him to get out of the OVW Heavyweight Champ's way!

OVW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH:
SHAWN SPEARS (Champ) VS. COLT CABANA
REF: Kevin Keenan

As Colt came out for the match, he was attacked from behind by Shawn Spears and thrown head-first into a steel support in the arena! Cabana struggled to regain his senses and began to crawl to the ring, but it was not enough to keep Spears from screaming at the ref to begin a count-out on Colt. At the count of ten, Colt was been counted-out and the win went to Shawn Spears – once again keep the Television Title in the slimiest way possible.

In the back, Jacob Duncan could not understand why the vending machine would not accept his $100 bill until Atlas DaBone explained in his own style. Duncan then offered to buy Atlas' gold chain, but DaBone said, “Brother, I can't sell the bling, I'm going to the ring!” And with that, Atlas headed off to the ring for the following match.

“THE PROFESSIONAL” MIKE MONDO VS. ATLAS DABONE

Psyching Atlas out with a false handshake, Mondo hit Atlas with a forearm as DaBone went to his corner to take off his “bling.” Stomping on Atlas in the corner and jabbing at him with an elbow, Mondo lay in a boot to the face after a whip and then sent DaBone for a loop with a clothesline! DaBone came back with a sunset-flip from off the ropes, but couldn't pull Mondo down to get a pin-attempt and Mike showed his displeasure by punching Atlas in the face. DaBone got a roll-up, yet Mondo responded with a solid boot to the face and it looked like Mike had enough time to pose and point out the name on his trunks as Atlas ate canvas.

Three knees dropped on Atlas head and neck couldn't keep him down for a pin, so Mondo went to the arm and then a dropkick after DaBone connected with a jab to the jaw. Alas, a moonsault from Mondo missed a rolling-away DaBone and Mike smacked hard into the mat, allowing DaBone to spear Mondo and finish Mike off with Da Boneyard Boogie for the win!

OVW SOUTHERN TAG-TEAM TITLES VS. HAIR MATCH:
THE JAMES BOYS (Champs) VS. TERMINAL VELOCITY
REF: Goose Mahoney

Chet and Kasey started off, with Kasey quickly looking a bit surprised at Chet's intensity. That didn't stop Kasey from trying for a pin, as did Chet soon after, and the two went off to tag in their respective partners. Steve Lewington kept up the headlocks on Cassidy James and then did the same to Kasey after Cassidy tagged him in! Lewington tagged in Chet, who tried to keep the headlock going on Kasey, but the James Boy reversed it and then dragged Chet over for a knee to the face from Cassidy as the ref was busy trying to keep Steve from entering the ring to help his partner!

Cassidy tagged in and attempted the same setup for Kasey when Steve tried to help out again, only this time Chet was ready and managed to duck out of the hold so that Kasey dropkicked air and fell full-force on his back. Chet tagged in Steve for a double vertical suplex on Cassidy and then teamed-up to do the same to Kasey! Steve found himself having his legs pulled out from under him by Kasey from the apron, which gave Cassidy a chance to bring in Kasey for what should have been a dropkick on Lewington. Yet, with Steve managing to move out of the way in time, Kasey ended up just hitting air again and dropping down to the canvas! A whip by Cassidy sent Steve into the leg of Kasey from the apron, sending waves of pain into Steve's back and giving Cassidy a chance to tag Kasey back into the match.

Kasey threw Steve into a modified Camel-Clutch and then kicked him in the face, only to get a boot in the face himself when trying to setup a backdrop on Lewington. Steve tagged in Chet, who bodyslammed and dropkicked both of the James Boys before clotheslining Cassidy out of the ring! Yet, just as Chet was getting ready to win the Titles for Terminal Velocity, Cassidy grabbed him by the legs and held him down on the outside as Kasey rolled on top of Chet and got the 1-2-3 from an unsuspecting Goose Mahoney!

Kasey grabbed the mic in order to taunt Chet, but Chet yanked it away, saying he was a man of his word and “a deal is a deal.” Telling Goose to get a chair, Chet grabbed it and threatened to hit the James Boys before sitting down and letting the Boys start cutting his hair!

Steel/Curtis, Koslov/Bradley, Manbeast/Pulaski and Vain/Lupe competed
in a 4-way OVW
Heavyweight #1 contenders match with Bradley getting the win with the
boomstick to become
the #1 contender.

Cabana beat Spears for the OVW Tag Team Championship, he can now
choose a partner of his own
to hold the titles.

Second show:

Featured a year-end tribute followed by a 3-way match with Matt Sydal
retaining his OVW
Title by defeating Mike Kruel and Atlas DaBone.

World Wrestling Entertainment® announced today that Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) will no longer be affiliated with World Wrestling Entertainment as an official developmental territory, making Florida Championship Wrestling™ (FCW™) WWE’s official development training facility for talent around the globe.

“Ohio Valley Wrestling has been a tremendous partner with World Wrestling Entertainment through the years, and we thank them for their work in developing many of today’s WWE Superstars,” said John Laurinaitis, Senior Vice President of Talent Relations. “We look forward to Florida Championship Wrestling playing host to the next generation of WWE Superstars recruited from around the world.”

Last November, WWE announced the formation of Florida Championship Wrestling, a new training center for future WWE Superstars. The facility has four wrestling rings and approximately 35 contracted athletes, with plans to increase that number to more than 70 in the near future. The facility is now fully operational, as WWE undertook large-scale renovations to FCW in order to accommodate its training needs. The finished training facility is more than 10,000 square feet, including an arena that will seat nearly 300 fans. The new training facility will also host a weekly show in front of a live audience, to be broadcast for regional television.

FCW is owned and operated by Steve Keirn, a former professional wrestler and producer for WWE. WWE trainer Tom Prichard oversees all talent training at the facility.
